Governor's Commission on Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking

Information on the Governor's Commission on Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking.

The Governor's Commission on Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking was established by Executive Order 2022-3 on April 11, 2022. This was in response to recommendations from the New Hampshire Supreme Court Task Force on Domestic Violence Cases in the New Hampshire Judicial System March 1, 2022 report.

The Commission's membership represents various state, local, and non-governmental agencies. It takes a multi-disciplinary approach to addressing the needs of victims, to promote a consistent response and to hold offenders accountable for their actions.

The Commission is charged with working together to develop, implement, and support initiatives that address the needs of victims and survivors and prevent domestic and sexual violence and stalking in New Hampshire through:

  • Examining trends and patterns of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking in New Hampshire;
  • Identifying risk factors, current practices, gaps in systemic responses and barriers to safety for victims;
  • Recommending policies, practices, and services that will prevent and deter domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking, encourage community collaboration to better meet victims' needs and increase offender accountability; and
  • Monitoring and reviewing proposed legislation in order to advise legislators and the Governor on possible legislative impacts.
