Governor Chris Sununu to Nominate Colonel David Mikolaities as the next Adjutant General of the state of New Hampshire
Concord, NH – Today Governor Chris Sununu announced that he will nominate Colonel David J. Mikolaities of Portsmouth to serve as the next Adjutant General of the State of New Hampshire. The nomination will be made at the August 23rd Executive Council meeting.
“As the senior ranking officer in the New Hampshire National Guard, Colonel David Mikolaities will serve as Adjutant General of the State of New Hampshire with honor and distinction,” said Governor Chris Sununu. “A decorated combat veteran, there is no doubt that Colonel Mikolaities is an unwavering advocate for soldiers, airmen, and veterans, and I am excited to work alongside him as he leads New Hampshire’s National Guard.”
Colonel David Mikolaities is a member of the New Hampshire Army National Guard where he currently serves as the Construction and Facilities Management Officer. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Webster University, and the U.S. Army College, Colonel Mikolaities was born in Manchester, NH, and currently resides in Portsmouth, NH, with his wife, Sandy, and their three children, Skyler, Adam, and Sierra.

During his long and distinguished career that includes multiple tours in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, Colonel Mikolaities is an Airborne, Ranger, Special Forces qualified officer who has received the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Infantryman's Badge amongst his many awards and decorations.
Dave Kenney, Chairman of the State Veterans Advisory Committee said of the nomination, “As Chair of Governor Sununu’s Adjutant General Selection Commission, I can say with certainty that New Hampshire can count on Colonel Mikolaities to protect, fight, and advocate for the New Hampshire National Guard and support New Hampshire’s Veterans and their families.”
Following the nomination at the August 23rd Executive Council meeting, a confirmation vote will likely take place at the September 13th Executive Council Meeting. Governor Sununu chose Colonel Mikolaities after his appointed selection committee narrowed the applicant field down to their top three recommendations.
