Governor Sununu Statement on the signing of HR 6, the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act
Concord, NH -Today, Governor Chris Sununu issued the following statement regarding yesterday's signing of HR 6, the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act, a critical bipartisan bill that addresses our nations ongoing opioid epidemic.
"The opioid crisis is indisputably the single greatest public health crisis our state, and country has ever seen. Earlier this fall, after working together with our local, state, and federal partners we announced a new innovative approach towards tackling the crisis that ensures that Granite Staters receive the services they need whenever they need them. The President signed into law yesterday the Patients and Communities Act that includes provisions we have advocated for and will further enhance our innovative system of care with additional key programs, importantly recovery housing. Federal assistance for recovery housing is critical in supporting those with opioid use disorder on their path to recovery. I am also encouraged to see that resources and attention are being placed on prevention services, in addition to providing our law enforcement officials with more tools to protect our communities."
