Governor Sununu Statement on Janus v AFSCME

Concord, NH - Today, Governor Chris Sununu issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the case of Janus v. American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees,(AFSCME) Council 31.

"No employee should be forced to pay any union in order to keep their job," said Governor Chris Sununu. "Sadly, that's a reality for many public-sector workers today, who are compelled to subsidize union activities and speech with which they might strongly disagree. With today's Janus case, the US Supreme Court has an opportunity to plot a course correction and restore first amendment freedoms to thousands of New Hampshire employees at the state, county and local level. I certainly hope the Court finds in favor of Mr. Janus and protects the right of all public-sector workers to spend their money how they see fit."
