Governor Sununu Statement on CMS Medicaid Work Requirement Announcement

Concord, NH - Today, Governor Chris Sununu issued the following statement on the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announcement regarding Medicaid work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents:

"Today's announcement by CMS regarding new flexibility for states to create Medicaid work requirements is good news for New Hampshire's pending waiver application," said Governor Chris Sununu. "Work requirements offer opportunities to lifting individuals out of poverty, empower them with the dignity of work and self-reliability while also allowing states to control the costs of their Medicaid programs. They also assist people to gain the skills necessary for long-term independence and success. We are committed to helping more people get into the workforce, as it is critical not only for individuals but also for our economy as a whole."
