Governor Sununu Attends CES, New Hampshire Recognized as “Innovation Champion” by Consumer Technology Association

State Earns Top Honors on the Consumer Technology Association’s Biennial Scorecard

Concord, NH – Today, Governor Chris Sununu and Department of Business and Economic Affairs Commissioner Taylor Caswell announced that the State of New Hampshire was honored at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) as an “Innovation Champion” by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). New Hampshire was one of only  15 states recognized as part of the CTA’s 2020 U.S. Innovation Scorecard, and is ranked as the top state in New England and 4th overall.

States were judged based on efforts to demonstrate pathways for workforce education in critical scientific and engineering fields, for maintaining friendly tax policies and for giving innovators freedom from burdensome rules.

“CTA announcing the Granite State as an “Innovation Champion” is exciting news for our state, and comes as we continue to grow our global hub of technology and biotech firms,” said Governor Chris Sununu. “New Hampshire is an enterprise friendly state with a low-tax, pro-business environment and access to a world-class workforce, and I am confident we will continue to lead New England on innovation for years to come.”

“Once again, New Hampshire’s vibrant and pro-growth economy stands out in the northeast US,” said Taylor Caswell, Commissioner of New Hampshire Business and Economic Affairs (BEA).  “We continue to build a 21st century economy using our business environment and unparalleled lifestyle assets to make New Hampshire a place entrepreneurs and innovators want to live and work.”

Governor Sununu kicked off CES – the largest technology conference in the world – by cutting the ceremonial ribbon with leaders of some of the most prominent and respected companies. While there, he spoke to the Consumer Technology Association’s Government Affairs Committee about breaking down barriers in government, and highlighted New Hampshire’s approach to creating a successful atmosphere for tech companies.

On Tuesday, Governor Sununu and Commissioner Caswell spent the morning touring the conference expo center, visiting with start ups and the worlds largest companies promoting New Hampshire and learning about emerging and innovative products.
