Governor Chris Sununu Signs SB 385, SB 366, SB 435, and SB 303 into Law

Concord, NH – Today, Governor Chris Sununu issued the following statements after he signed SB 385, SB 366, SB 435, and SB 303 into law.

SB 385, An act establishing a foster care children's bill of rights:

"We are making progress in reforming New Hampshire's foster care system," said Governor Chris Sununu. "But there is always more we can do, and this bill will establish a foster care children's bill of rights, ensuring that at-risk children, and their foster families, have proper protections in place."

SB 435, An act relative to alternative programs for granting credit leading to graduation:

"New Hampshire has been at the forefront nationally in transitioning to competency based education and this legislation takes it to the next level," said Governor Chris Sununu. "We understand that transitioning away from seat time, in favor of a structure that creates flexibility, allows students to progress as they demonstrate mastery of academic content, regardless of time, place, or pace of learning is an essential element in approaching a 21st Century K-12 education system. This bill will help to further open those alternative learning opportunities to even more students."

SB 366, An act relative to membership and procedures of the site evaluation committee:

"Siting is a crucial factor in meeting New Hampshire's energy needs with minimally disruptive impact at low cost," said Governor Chris Sununu. "Regardless of fuel type or technology, every major energy project must face the challenge of siting infrastructure. If New Hampshire is going to be serious about optimizing our energy system, we must have a siting process that is fair, predictable, and communicative. Today, we take a great stride towards achieving that goal. By easing the burden on overworked SEC members and allowing for their greater education, we will be better able offer an equitable process."

SB 303, An act relative to a security freeze on a consumer's credit report:

"This bill is a huge step forward for strengthening consumer protections," said Governor Chris Sununu. "SB 303 will ensure that a consumers' private information will be kept confidential, only released with their permission, and not charged fees for control of their own information."
