Governor Chris Sununu, Senator Maggie Hassan Issue Bipartisan Letter to President Trump Regarding Supportive Housing

Concord, NH – Earlier this week, Governor Chris Sununu and United States Senator Maggie Hassan sent a letter to President Trump urging the Administration to expand access to supportive housing.

Governor Sununu and Senator Hassan are seeking to clarify federal guidance related to how funds can be used to build inclusive, accessible, affordable housing for individuals who experience disabilities across the country. Clarifying this guidance would provide more certainty to individuals who experience disabilities and to developers planning to use federal housing funds to build more inclusive housing projects.

“Every Granite Stater – regardless of their abilities – should have access to housing that allows them to live independently and within their communities,” said Governor Chris Sununu. “I am pleased to join with Senator Hassan in conveying our concerns and to ensure that federal regulations are clarified, allowing for the development of affordable, accessible, and integrated housing for people who experience disabilities.”

“We recently attended the funeral of Taylor Ardinger, a young woman who experienced developmental disabilities, and was a strong advocate in the fight to expand and improve services so that individuals who experience disabilities can be fully included in their communities,” Senator Hassan said. “It is her advocacy that spurred us to call on the Trump Administration to clarify federal guidance, and pave the way for more individuals who experience disabilities to access affordable and inclusive housing.”
