Concord, NH – Today, the New Hampshire Department of Safety released an after-action report outlining state facility security plan recommendations following the shooting of Officer Bradley Haas at New Hampshire Hospital on November 17, 2023.

A copy of the report can be found here.

A copy of the Governor’s letter to state leadership regarding the report can be found below.

Good afternoon,

On Friday, November 17th, an unthinkable tragedy occurred at the New Hampshire Hospital as an armed individual attempted to enter the facility. Sadly, Department of Safety Security Officer Bradley Haas gave his life while protecting patients and staff at the hospital. His heroism and public service saved numerous lives.

Many employees have been shaken by this incident and in every setting, their safety is our number one priority.

At my direction, Commissioner Quinn conducted an assessment of current security protocols and presented recommendations to move forward not just at New Hampshire Hospital, but at all our state facilities. Please see the attached memo.

Providing a safe working environment is a job that is never done, however we are moving forward with all of the Department’s recommendations and will continue to assess additional necessary steps moving forward on an ongoing basis.

Sincerely,

Christopher T. Sununu
Governor
State of New Hampshire
