Bridges House to Shine Blue to Mark World Down Syndrome Day

Concord, NH - Today, in honor of World Down Syndrome Day, First Lady Valerie Sununu and Governor Chris Sununu announced that New Hampshire is joining 18 other states from across the country who are participating in this year's 2018 Light the Way campaign.

First Lady Valerie Sununu is leading the Light the Way campaign, a national initiative started in 2011 to help raise awareness and research of Down Syndrome. Tonight, The Bridges House (the Governor's official residence in Concord) will be illuminated in blue this evening to symbolize the Sununu's support of Down Syndrome cognitive research.

"As First Lady, I have had the privilege to champion many important causes in the Granite State," said First Lady Valerie Sununu. "Down Syndrome Awareness is a cause near and dear to my heart, and I am grateful to be spearheading the national movement for Down Syndrome Awareness."

Governor Sununu has proclaimed March 19-25th Down Syndrome Awareness Week Proclamation.

Note: Participating states include Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Montana, Minnesota, New Mexico, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
