CONCORD - Gov. John Lynch announced today he has named Jeffrey Meyers, currently an attorney in private practice and legal counsel to the state Senate, as his new legal counsel.
Meyers succeeds Michael Delaney who was confirmed yesterday by the Executive Council as the state’s next Attorney General.
“Jeff Meyers will be a valuable addition to my staff, and it is a pleasure to welcome him,” Gov. Lynch said. “Through his work with the Senate, Jeff has a deep understanding of the challenges facing New Hampshire and in-depth knowledge of state agencies and the legislature.”
Meyers, of Concord, has served as the state Senate’s legal counsel since 2006. He is also an officer with the Nelson, Kinder, Mosseau & Saturley law firm in Manchester, focusing on state and federal environmental litigation. Prior to joining the firm in 2003, Meyers was an attorney with Bianco Professional Association in Concord, and Verrill & Dana in Portland, Maine.
He was an assistant state attorney general from 1991 through 1998, serving in the Environmental Protection Bureau prosecuting criminal and civil violations of major environmental statues before state and federal courts.
“It is a privilege to be asked by Gov. Lynch to join his staff. I look forward to this new opportunity and to helping Gov. Lynch make progress for the people of New Hampshire on the important issues facing our state, from better protecting our citizens, to expanding access to affordable, quality health care, to improving education,” Meyers said.
Meyers received his bachelor’s degree George Washington University in 1978 and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1989.
