Governor Lynch Creates Commission to Examine Expanded Gaming

CONCORD - Gov. John Lynch has issued an Executive Order creating a Gaming Study Commission to conduct a review of various models for expanded gaming in New Hampshire.

The Executive Order directs the commission to undertake a thorough and comprehensive review of various models for expanded gaming and their potential to generate state revenues, as well as an assessment of the social, economic and public safety impacts of gaming options on the quality of life in New Hampshire

“These are important questions that must be addressed in a careful and thoughtful way to help inform the public debate about expanded gaming in New Hampshire,” Gov. Lynch said.

The Commission will consist of 15 members appointed by the Governor. The Commission’s membership will include public members and representatives of the legislature, law enforcement, the business and tourism communities, local government, labor and social service organizations.

Gov. Lynch has named Andrew Lietz as chairman of the commission. Lietz is the former president and CEO of the Hadco Corporation, from 1995 to 2000. He is also the former chairman of the board of the New Hampshire Business and Industry Association, and former chairman of the board of trustees of the University System of New Hampshire.

“Andy Lietz is a highly respected leader in the business and higher education communities. His thoughtful manner, leadership skills, and commitment to the state of New Hampshire make him the right person to lead this commission,” Gov. Lynch said. “I want to thank Andy for agreeing to serve as chairman.”

The Governor will appoint the remaining members in the next few weeks.
