Gov. Lynch Statement Regarding Federal Highway Trust Fund Shortfall

CONCORD - Gov. John Lynch today released the following statement regarding the decision to begin rationing federal highway reimbursements to the states.

Today the U.S. Transportation informed New Hampshire and other states a shortfall in the federal Highway Trust Fund will not allow the Federal Highway Administration to make timely full payments of money owed to the states for transportation projects.

“New Hampshire, like other states, receives an allocation from the federal Highway Trust Fund for highway construction, and the rationing of these funds could delay critical projects,” Gov. Lynch said. “I urge Congress to take immediate action so the federal government meets its commitments, and New Hampshire is able to continue important highway work without delay or interruption.”
