President Grants Gov. Lynch’s Request For a Disaster Declaration
Request for Public Assistance Granted for Flood Damage Caused Last Month

CONCORD - President Bush today granted Gov. John Lynch’s request for a major disaster declaration for damage caused by flooding due to severe storms last month.

“Several communities suffered major and costly damage as a result of flooding from these severe storms,” Gov. Lynch said. “I’m pleased that President Bush has moved to issue this disaster declaration to provide financial assistance to communities which will help in repairing their infrastructure.”

President Bush’s disaster declaration will make public assistance available for impacted communities in Belknap, Coos and Grafton counties.

In addition, FEMA this week conducted damage assessments for infrastructure damage caused by flooding in Carroll County. The state will ask that Carroll County be included in the declaration.

People with flood or tornado-related questions or concerns can call the state’s information line at 1-888-330-6764.
