CONCORD - Gov. John Lynch proclaimed today Chris Carpenter Day, in honor of the New Hampshire resident winning the National League's Cy Young Award this year.
Gov. Lynch presented the Proclamation to Carpenter at a State House Ceremony today, joined by the Executive Council, legislators Raymond selectmen and Raymond Little League players.

CHRIS CARPENTER DAY
DECEMBER 21, 2005
WHEREAS, Chris Carpenter was recently named the 2005 National League Cy Young Award Winner as the league's best pitcher; and
WHEREAS, Chris Carpenter grew up in Raymond and is a graduate of Trinity High School in Manchester; and
WHEREAS, Chris Carpenter is a dedicated and committed member of his community; and
WHEREAS, Chris Carpenter was also honored by MLB.com as Major League Starting Pitcher of the Year and was also named outstanding pitcher in player voting conducted by The Sporting News and the Major League Baseball Players Association; and
WHEREAS, Chris Carpenter has made the people of New Hampshire justifiably proud;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN H. LYNCH, GOVERNOR of the State of New Hampshire, and the EXECUTIVE COUNCIL do hereby proclaim DECEMBER 21, 2005 as CHRIS CARPENTER DAY and congratulate him on his many successes in the Major Leagues.
Given this 21st day of December in the year of Our Lord two thousand and five, and the independence of the United States of America, two hundred and twenty-nine.
