Governor Lynch to Nominate Amy Ignatius of Concord to Public Utilities Commission
CONCORD - Governor John Lynch today announced that he will nominate Amy Ignatius of Concord to serve on the Public Utilities Commission at tomorrow's Governor and Council Meeting. The Executive Council must confirm the nomination.
"Two of our most important economic development priorities in New Hampshire are building a cleaner, more stable and more affordable energy future and expanding competitive, advanced telecommunications services. The Public Utilities Commission has a vital role in both of these efforts," Governor Lynch said.
"From her experience in the Energy Office and with Public Utilities, Amy Ignatius brings a wealth of expertise on both of these issues, which are so important to our future economic well-being. She has tremendous experience having worked in state government, with the legislature, local communities, citizens, and the business community to help address the energy challenges we face," Governor Lynch said.
Since 2006, Ignatius has served as director of the state Office of Energy and Planning. Prior to her appointment at the Office of Energy and Planning, Ignatius served as general counsel to the Public Utilities Commission, a position she also held from 1991 to 1998. From 1998 to 2003, Ignatius was the executive director of the New England Conference of Public Utilities Commissioners.
She worked as an attorney for Devine, Millimet and Branch from 1988 to 1991. She worked for the New Hampshire Department of Justice from 1982 to 1988, where she served for two years as the Bureau Chief for the Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau.
Ignatius received her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1977 and her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1982.
